Yoga

New research suggests that mindfulness is particularly beneficial for children. As the brain develops fastest in early childhood, mindfulness – by practising focus and cognitive control – can strengthen skills like self-regulation, judgment and patience during childhood.

Here at Pendle Hill Early Learning Centre, Mindfulness and Yoga are a part of our daily routine. We believe that practising mindfulness creates the foundation of other self-regulation habits in children that can help them manage their emotions and shape positive behaviours in adulthood.

Introducing yoga to children is a wonderful practice at our center. Through yoga, children learn techniques for self-health, relaxation, and inner fulfillment, helping them navigate life's challenges with greater ease. Starting yoga early promotes self-esteem and body awareness through a noncompetitive physical activity. It fosters cooperation and compassion, nurturing a positive approach to interactions rather than competition, which is invaluable for their development.
